If you prefer, you can also just cut your yarn after you’ve woven all the way across so that it has a tail. Start a new length of yarn to weave up toward that tail and then just press the top row and tail down with a comb.
3 Weave about 2" (5 cm) more of plain weave to create height before adding your next layer of rya knots (Fig. 3).

4 Using the dark green yarn, add in 7 rya knots on both sides of your warp (Fig. 4). Each rya knot should contain about 10 strands of yarn measuring roughly 13" (33 cm) long. This yarn is a fingering weight, so it’s rather thin and is a nice contrast to the thicker wool strands below.
